This section will be brief, as it is expected that those
who are playing in The Fallen understand the basic concepts behind roleplaying.
Let me make it clear, however, what The Fallen is not:
If you are expecting any of these, then this campaign is certainly not for you. The Fallen is designed to be place for storytellers - both the DM and the players themselves contribute to the ongoing story. While I have a story in mind, what parts play out and how it plays out is greatly influenced the players themselves. In this campaign, the fiction and story is not simply a reason for the loot-gathering and monster-slaying, rather, they are always in the foreground, and any monster-slaying and loot-gathering has some place in the overall story. Much of the fiction in the campaign has been either created or refined by players, and I hope for that tradition to continue. I only ask players follow a few rules while playing in the campaign, and since there are so few, I will enforce them strictly. One, once players have exited the pre-session area, they are expected to act in character at all times. I was fairly lenient about this rule in the first campaign, but it will be enforced this time around. This is not just for my enjoyment of the campaign, but out of respect for your fellow players. The wise crack that some, including myself, may find funny, could at the same time damage the experience of other players. The only times any OOC conversation is allowed after the pre-session is when someone is having technical difficulties, when the game is paused for a significant length of time, if I have asked an OOC question, or after I have announced that the day's session is over. OOC conversation between players in tells to either one another or to the DM is perfectly fine, as long as no player is being harassed. The second main rule is a not as common-sense as the first one, and that is, to adhere to The Fallen fiction at all times. While slight mistakes are unavoidable, I will be very annoyed if someone is blatantly disregarding some of the basic fiction. This is, of course, a difficult thing to measure, but I expect if all of you know the basic fiction and adhere to common sense, we shouldn't have any problems. If you have any questions during a session, feel free to ask the DM via the DM channel. I plan to provide a cliff-notes, 'cheat sheet' version of the fiction that players can read and print out for quick access, thus limiting any number of problems we should have. The third main rule is, of course, to treat your fellow players with respect. You can yell at each other IC, but keep any OOC conversations cordial. I will not care who starts it, if two players end up in an OOC argument in the middle of the game, both parties will be punished. Also, resist the temptation to 'slyly' insult someone OOCly using an IC comment. I can tell you right now, you are not being sly, and it will be treated as though it was an OOC comment. Everyone has an equal right to enjoy the campaign, and anyone who I think is preventing others from doing so will be disciplined. Beyond that, just listen to your common sense. Most of us have roleplayed for awhile, and so should know how to treat one another. My mission - and the entire reason for this campaign - is to make sure everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves, and I will not tolerate anyone who threatens this goal. I will not be unfair, but if I must be, I will be strict. The first punishment for an offense will be a simple warning, the next few will be increasing levels of experience deduction, and finally, if the abuse continues, I will remove you from the campaign. I do not expect this to be a problem with anyone, but I wanted to make sure you knew what my expectations for your behavior were in advance.
